Racist Who Threatened Obama Doesn’t ‘Understand What She Did Wrong’

Earlier this week 22-year-old California woman Denise Helms made some disastrous social media choices after President Barack Obama won re-election.

Helms wrote on Facebook: “Another 4 years of this [N-word]. Maybe he will get assassinated this term.”

The racist comment immediately went viral and Helms was criticized for her racism and assassination talk. Since then, Helms lost her job at Cold Stone Creamery after her employer found out about her comments and the public reaction to them.

But it seems Helms has yet to understand the severity of the situation.

“I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal,” she tells Fox 40 News. “The assassination part is kind of harsh. I’m not saying, like, I would go do that or anything like that, by any means, but if it was to happen, I don’t think I’d care one bit.”

Helms deactivated her Facebook soon after the controversy.

But Helms’ post won’t simply die down as social media chit-chat. Secret Service Agent Scott Gillingham from the Sacramento office has told The Modesto Beethat he would be looking into the post and the video above.

Under U.S. Code Section 871, threats against the president are considered a felony. The Code prohibits knowingly threatening “to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm” on the president, vice president or other office officials in line for the seat.

The Modesto Bee also found that Helms was not a registered voter in the state of California but did Like the Romney/Ryan Facebook page.

Watch Helms defend her comment in the video above.
